Lucky little ring...
Sometimes when you make something from your dreams, it shines. The first time I made this little ring I spent the whole time dreaming about living on an island in the Mediterranean, where my only responsibility each day was to find where I left my glasses the night before. (Most likely next to an empty wine glass and a crusty loaf of bread.) This lucky little ring made editor's pick in the "Storque Handmade Blog" last week for the 3 time in a year. Maybe it's trying to tell me something? :) Tonight I will spend the evening pouring resin on the tops of more of these tiled wishes and dream my dream of ancient white washed buildings and the sound of the ocean.

Oh Frida!
Etsy makes me happy. Not only is this a treasury that fills my heart full of Frida delight... 2 of my pieces were included! When I make my jewelry sometimes I wonder if Frida would have worn one of my tile necklaces or a pair of my post earrings. I secretly think she would have. *Blush* And now I know someone else thinks so too! YAY!

FB Craft pledge, 5/22/10
Original Mural, La Mexicana Tortilla Factory, Hayward, CA. Circa 1978, Photographer Unknown. |
La Mexicana Mural Earrings |
Here is my first creation for the "Craft Pledge" challenge that was floating around FB a month back. I made these for Teresa! They are mural earrings inspired by the La Mexicana Tortilla Factory Mural, circa 1978. We'd often sell our free lunch tickets (SHS 87') to get the $ to pay for their bean and cheese burritos. The mural is long gone but the memories still sit in my belly.
